Interim Development Associate

POSITION SUMMARY: 

The mission of the Haight Ashbury Food Program is to promote the principle that freedom from hunger is a right,
not a privilege. We are committed to serving our neighbors in need in a way that fosters self-worth and a sense 
of community. We also seek to end hunger by helping people to become self-sufficient through providing job 
training, support and access to other services and by educating the community and decision-makers at the local, 
state and national levels about the causes of hunger. 

The Interim Development Associate will be responsible for maintaining and developing support and funding for 
the organization, including proposal writing, foundation research and donor outreach, while the Executive 
Director of the organization is on leave. 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: 

* Write and submit proposals to ongoing foundation and corporate funding sources according to their guidelines 
* Research new sources of foundation and corporate funding 
* Write and submit proposals to new foundation and corporate funding sources according to their guidelines 
* Maintain relationships with foundation and corporate funders (letters, phone calls, thank youıs, outreach, etc.) 
* Write and submit reports to foundation and corporate funders according to their guidelines 
* Respond to RFPs from governmental funding sources according to their guidelines (including necessary technical 
assistance meetings and follow-up meetings during the funding allocation process) 
* Submit required reports and invoices to governmental funding sources in a timely manner. 
* Participate in other fundraising and outreach activities, as required. 

QUALIFICATIONS 

* Proven success at fund raising through grant submissions and other activities.(Sample grants will be required) 
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. 
* Ability to communicate and work with homeless and recently homeless individuals from diverse backgrounds. 
* Ability to demonstrate sensitivity to and appreciation for diverse viewpoints and different communication styles 
in a multicultural environment. 
* Ability to manage multiple competing priorities. 
* Experience with governmental funding sources in San Francisco (Private Industry Council, Department of Human
Services, Mayorıs Office of Community Development, etc.) preferred.
