Haight-Ashbury Food Program
Freedom from Hunger is a Right, not a PrivilegeHAFP was founded in 1983 as a neighborhood response to hunger. We exist to provide food and referral services to those in need while fostering a sense of belonging and self worth for all involved.
What We Do
We exist to provide meals and referral services to those in need while fostering a sense of belonging and self worth for all involved. See how we have been providing good food to families since 1983.

The Food Pantry
Every Saturday from 12pm - 2pm, we feed local families with our farmers' market-style distribution center in the Upper-Haight neighborhood of San Francisco

Food for All
We are part of a network of programs that help to ensure that all San Franciscans have food on the table.

Past Programs
Since 1983, the Haight Ashbury Food Program served hundreds of hot meals each day, four days per week. The Community Kitchen served more than 1 million meals during its operation.
How You Can Help
Your generous donations and volunteer support are what makes our program run. Thank you for your support in combating hunger among us. Here's how you can help.
Make a Donation

The Haight Ashbury Food Program relies on generous donations from our neighbors and supporters. Every donation goes directly to the operation of our program to feed people in need. Every donation makes a difference, no matter how big or small.
Volunteer

The Haight Ashbury Food Program needs volunteers every Saturday to assist us with the operation of the food pantry. We also need help with special projects.

“Supporting the principle that freedom from hunger is a right, not a privilege”
Having an Impact
In 2017, Haight Ashbury Food Program distributed 196,634 pounds of food, which equates to $340,177 worth. We did all of that with a budget of less than $45,000, one paid staff member, and with almost 100% individual contributions from our local (and not-so-local) community members! Thank you, community near and far, for your ongoing support!
